Oakland County has seen a "rash of high-end burglaries" in several communities, Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard said in a video released Tuesday.

According to a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, there has been an influx of calls reporting high-end burglaries throughout numerous communities in the county. Bouchard said they are working diligently on finding a solution to the issue.

“We believe it’s a targeted type of thing and it’s from folks well outside of Michigan so know that many many agencies are working on this, and a lot of resources are being poured into this,” he said.

He encouraged people living in the county to be more aware of local activity.

“Be more aware of your surroundings. Be more aware of what’s happening in your neighborhood. Make sure, if you have an alarm, you set your alarm, lock your doors, lock your windows, lock your car, do those things that don’t make you an attractive target,” he said.

Bouchard said police will likely increase patrolling in the area but encourages residents to be aware and contact the police department if witnessing suspicious activity.
