    Rapper Joey Bada$$ Arrested for Assault in Australia

    Rapper Joey Bada$$ has been charged with assault in Australia after allegedly punching a security guard in the face at the Falls Music Festival, reports The Sydney Morning Herald.

    The incident occurred when Bada$$, whose real name is Jo-Vaughn Jalani Virginie, was about to take to the stage last Friday. He was approached by the guard at around 8:30 p.m., and Bada$$ lashed out after an altercation.

    "A 20-year-old man was allegedly punched in the face by a man while working as a security guard at the festival," confirmed a police spokeswoman. "The man was treated for a broken nose and other facial injuries."

    After his performance at the Byron Bay-based festival, Bada$$ was arrested by police and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

    "He was refused bail and appeared at Lismore Bail Court on Saturday," said the spokeswoman.

    Bada$$ has been bailed to appear at Byron Bay Local Court on March 19.

    A Brooklyn native, Bada$$ is one of the hottest rappers at the moment with his debut album B4.Da.$$ (pronounced "Before Da Money") ranked second in Billboard's 30 most anticipated albums of 2015. The album will be released on Jan. 20, his 20th birthday.
