Police claim Waylon Poggas, 20, met a 19-year-old woman at a mall and began communicating via Instagram afterward. At one point, the woman asked Poggas if she could come over, and Poggas sent an Uber to pick her up and bring her to his residence in the 3300 block of Regal Place.

After she arrived, they watched television until Poggas told her to undress. The woman said no multiple times, and Poggas threatened to not give her a ride home.

The woman told police she had no money, her phone wasn’t working, and she had no other way to get home.

Police claim Poggas removed the victim’s clothes and had nonconsensual contact with her. He again attempted to have sex with the woman, and again she told him no. Poggas disregarded that and forced himself on her while threatening not to get her a ride home.

Eventually, Poggas stopped and called the victim an Uber to go home.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Poggas with second-degree rape and second-degree sexual abuse. He remains jailed without bond.
