Randall Park revives 'Asian Jim' for John Krasinski's 'IF' promo

Randall Park has resurrected his iconic "Asian Jim" persona from “The Office” in a recent promotional video for John Krasinski's new film "IF."

In case you missed it: Park, 49, played Steve in the third episode ("Andy's Ancestry") of the ninth season of "The Office," which first aired in October 2012. The highlight of his appearance showed him impersonating Krasinski's character, Jim Halpert, to play a prank on Rainn Wilson's Dwight Schrute.

While initially skeptical, Dwight eventually fell for the gag. Steve, who later turned out to be a hired actor, has since been known as "Asian Jim."

Return of "Asian Jim": Park reprised "Asian Jim" in the promo video for "IF," a film written and directed by Krasinski and starring Ryan Reynolds. In the video, Park interacts with Reynolds, claiming to be Krasinski promoting the film.

“You’re not John Krasinski,” says Reynolds. “You’re Randall Park.”

“Uh, Ryan, I know it’s been a while since we shot, but we spent like four months together, like 10-hour days,” Park responds.

About the film: “IF,” which is set for release in May, follows a young girl navigating a challenging life period in which she begins to witness the imaginary friends of those around her come to life. The film’s star-studded cast includes Emily Blunt, Jon Stewart and Krasinski’s "The Office" co-star Steve Carrell.
