Rana: Sanjay Dutt is a superhero down south

Rana Daggubati is back in circulation in the B-town. Exactly a year back he was heavily promoting DUM MAARO DUM along with Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Basu. Circa 2012 and he would be hitting the road once again with DEPARTMENT, the biggest film ever of Ram Gopal Varma. What thrills him most though is the fact that the film has allowed him an opportunity to work with Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt.

"All credit to Ramu for mentally preparing me to face these two legends. I mean these are industry veterans and all we kids have grown up on them. Mr. Bachchan has been doing films from the time when I wasn't even born. For that matter even Sanjay Dutt whose ROCKY had released before my birth. To be standing in front of these legends and do an action drama is one mighty challenge. Ramu made sure that I was prepared well enough before I headed for the sets," confesses Rana for whom DUM MAARO DUM was a comparatively easy outing due to an out and out young cast.

What also played in the back of Rana's mind was the fan in him. For someone who is a big time movie buff due to his family background, Rana had to pull himself together before delivering a shot with his much senior colleagues.

"Someone like Dutt is a superhero down South. I remember the kind of euphoria I experienced when I watched VAASTAV in a Hyderabad theatre with 'aam junta'," Rana gets nostalgic here, "One day I would want to work in something as high impact as that. For me this is the image that played in my mind when I stepped into DEPARTMENT. I hope the film's experience has allowed me to take some immense learning out of it."

We hope so well. Also starring Anjana Sukhani and Madhu Shalini as the leading ladies, DEPARTMENT releases all over on 18th May.
