‘On a rampage’: OKC police arrest man accused of crashing into club and home

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Oklahoma City police have arrested a man accused of crashing into a southeast metro club, vehicles and a home nearby.

Gary Fry is facing two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of malicious injury to property.

Court documents say Fry was asked to leave the Passtime Club near SE 59th and I-35 Monday after an altercation.

Witnesses told police that while Fry was being escorted out he stated that he was going to drive his car into the building and threatened the life of one witness.

“It was very scary and we were very concerned for our customers,” said Passtime Club manager Deborah Bass. “It was very much a flipped switch.”

Bass showed News 4 employees video of a red truck, she said Fry was driving, crashing into vehicles in the parking lot, nearly running over bystanders and crashing into the entrance to the club.

“One of my customers had just gotten in the door when she felt it and it rocked the front side of our building,” said Bass.

Court documents verify Bass’ account, saying witnesses showed police video of a red flatbed truck running into vehicles and the building.

The video Bass shared shows the truck involved, leaving the parking lot, but Oklahoma City police said more damage was caused by the vehicle Fry is accused of operating.

“We did get a secondary call from a house near SE 89th and Bryant and people there indicated that a vehicle had run into a home there,” said MSgt. Dillon Quirk, with the Oklahoma City Police Department (OKCPD). “That same suspect that had just left the business prior was found there, crashed into the home.”

News 4 asked Bass for her thoughts on the events after Fry left her parking lot.

“My thoughts were, My God, he’s on a rampage,” said Bass.

Fry was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on a $15,000 bond.

Police and Bass said no one was hurt, but Bass said damage to her building could cost upwards of $10,000 to repair.

“Hopefully, you know, things will turn out good for, for not just us, but for him,” said Bass. “Hopefully he gets some help or something.”
