Ramey-Estep to host 'How Would You Help?'

Apr. 17—ASHLAND — Ramey-Estep/Re-Group is commemorating National Crime Victims' Right Week April 21-27 by hosting the "How Would You Help?" Resource Fair.

The event is scheduled for Wednesday, April 24, from 2-5 p.m. at Ashland Central Park at 615 22nd Street. Local agencies will be set up at the Bandstand to share resources and have giveaways.

There were nearly 20 million crime victimizations in the United States in 2022, according to a press release from Ramey-Estep. More than 6.6 million were the result of violent crimes, including rape or sexual assault, robbery, aggravated assault and simple assault — only about 42% were reported to police.

Although overall crime rates in Kentucky are lower than the national average, crime victimization can have profound and lasting effects on individuals and communities alike, according to the release.

The goal of the week — and the event, in particular — is to ensure the community is aware of available resources to help victims overcome challenges.

Ramey-Estep/Re-Group is joining the Office for Victims of Crime and communities throughout the U.S. during National Crime Victims' Rights Week in raising awareness of victims' rights and honoring crime victims and their advocates.
