Ramen festival, Shrek party and 5 other things to do in Denver this weekend

DENVER (KDVR) — Whether it be a Shrek-themed party, a festival around ramen, or a free trip to the art museum, there are plenty of things to do in Denver this weekend.

The weather this weekend is looking quite nice in the Denver weather forecast, with mostly sunny weather and temperatures nearly in the 70s on Friday and Saturday.

Will Denver see more rain or snow this weekend?

Sunday will be cloudy with temps in the 50s. In the evening, a chance for showers rolls into Colorado. It will be snowy in the mountains, but the metro is expected to get mostly rain or a mix of rain and snow.

For those looking to take advantage of the nice weather, here are some things to do in or around Denver this weekend.

Denver Ramen Festival

You can try a variety of ramen and other dishes made by local chefs at the Denver Ramen Festival happening on Saturday.

Tickets range in price from $105 to $149, and they include commemorative chopsticks, food samples and an open bar.

5 unique and unusual dining experiences in Colorado

There are two sessions with different ticket options, one from 1-4 p.m. and another from 5-8 p.m. The festival is happening at the Stockyards Event Center at 5004 National Western Drive.

Free day at Four Mile Historic Park

Every fourth Friday of the month, admission is free at Four Mile Historic Park.

Four Mile Historic Park is described as a “gateway to Denver’s Western heritage.” It’s where you’ll find the oldest standing structure in Denver. There is a museum with mid to late-1800s artifacts and lots of fascinating historical facts to learn.

Though tickers are free on Friday, you can reserve a spot online.

Denver Art Museum free day

Sunday is a free day at the Denver Art Museum.

Though general admission is free for the day, the museum asks visitors to reserve a ticket in advance online.

There are currently several exhibitions and galleries at the Denver Art Museum that explore different cultures, local history, contemporary art, science and more.

Shrek-themed party

Everyone, not just ogres, is invited to a Shrek-themed pop-up market and party happening on Saturday.

There will be a costume contest with prizes, a market with local vendors, food trucks, live music and more.

Admission is free, but attendees are asked to reserve a spot online in advance.

The Empire Strips Back: A Burlesque Parody

This burlesque show is like Star Wars, but with a “spicy twist,” according to the website. The show involves acting, dancing and comedy, and of course, your favorite characters from Star Wars.

“The Empire Strips Back celebrates a resurgence of burlesque while delivering a fun and rowdy experience for fans of the art form as well as the classic film series,” a press release reads.

There are shows this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at The Brighton, and the production will be in Denver through April 28. Tickets range from $44 to $59 and can be purchased online. The event is restricted to those 18 and older.

Home shows in Longmont and Denver

Home shows are happening Friday through Sunday in both Longmont and Denver.

Features of the show in Denver include gardening crafts, a market, inspiring exhibits and more. Plus, HGTV stars Leslie Davis and Lyndsay Lamb will be at the Denver show.

Denver Home Show expecting big crowds this weekend

The Denver show runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the National Western Complex, located at 4655 Humboldt St. Tickets are $10 for adults if purchased online, or $12 at the box office. Kids 12 and under get in free.

The show in Longmont will be similar, with idea-inspiring exhibitions, a market and businesses to get quotes from.

The Longmont Spring Home Show is free for all to attend and will be held at the Boulder County Fairgrounds on Friday from noon to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Repticon

A convention around reptiles, Repticon, is in Aurora on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds.

There, you’ll find many fascinating reptiles and have the opportunity to learn more or even go home with a new pet.

Tickets are only sold online and are $6 for kids five to 12 years old and range from $10 to $15 for adults. Kids four and under get in free.
