Raise the Region fundraiser brings in $2.3M for Valley nonprofits

Mar. 17—More than $2.3 million in donations was raised last week for 350 nonprofits across the Valley during the Raise the Region event.

Sponsored by the First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania (FCFP) and Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships, the fundraiser was held March 13-14 and raised $2,343,179 for nonprofit organizations in Northumberland, Snyder, Union, Montour, Columbia, Lycoming and Tioga counties.

Thousands of donors pledged 15,249 gifts during the 30-hour online fundraiser.

Since 2013, the event has raised more than $19 million.

"Raise the Region continues to highlight the philanthropic spirit of our communities," said FCFP President and CEO Jennifer D. Wilson.

"In an economy that's a little slower than last year, nevertheless Raise the Region always amazes me. I was optimistic but never thought we would beat last year's record," said Aubrey Alexander.

In addition to the more than $1.98 million in online public donations, participating nonprofits benefited from $358,582 in cash and prizes from the Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships and associate sponsors. Monetary prizes and incentives sponsored by Evergreen Wealth Solutions, First Citizens Community Bank, KC101 Radio, Larson Design Group, Pennsylvania Skill by Miele Manufacturing, Subaru, Toyota Motor Corporation, UPMC, UPMC Health Plan, and Weis Markets were awarded throughout the day to more than 115 participating nonprofit organizations.
