Rain and possible thunderstorms disrupt your Friday fun

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The big rain event will take center stage Friday. You can expect to wake up to rain and go to bed with rain. All in all, Portland could collect just under a half inch of rain in a 24-hour period.

A few stronger showers could bring lightning, thunder and small hail to the southern Willamette Valley Friday afternoon and evening. No severe weather is expected. If you hear thunder roar, go indoors.

Snow elevations remain above about 4,000 feet through the weekend. Temperatures will fall back to average (mid to upper 50s) this weekend and for the start of next week.

Springbreakers will have to embrace another year with rain during their one week off. I’m sure this is of no concern, of course, if you have plans to be out of town. For the rest of us, it means March is going to be March and deliver rain through the end of the month.
