Rain to dampen recovery efforts in wake of deadly train collision in South Carolina
An Amtrak passenger train collided with a freight train in South Carolina early Sunday morning, killing at least two people and injuring over 100 others, according to ABC News.
Eight crew members and approximately 139 passengers were on board the passenger train that was traveling from New York to Miami. All passengers were pulled off the train by 6:30 a.m. EST, according to the South Carolina Emergency Management Division.

The crash occurred in Cayce, which lies about 5 miles southwest of Columbia, around 2:35 a.m. EST.
The weather was dry and cloudy at the time of the incident with a temperature of 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

Red Cross rescue workers have been sent to the scene of the crash to assist survivors.
As crews investigate the wreckage, rain, some of which will be heavy, will move through the area into Sunday evening.
