Railroad tie replacement project to temporarily close crossings in Mulvane, Derby and Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Burlington Northern Santa Fe has adjusted the dates for the railroad tie replacement project, which will cause periodic closures of railroad crossings. The project will begin in Mulvane, go through Derby and into Wichita.

Derby shared the following dates, which are estimates from Burlington Northern Santa Fe, of when the crossings will be closed in the city:

  • 91st St. S.: Closing March 12, Opening March 14

  • Washington St.: Closing March 13, Opening March 15

  • Market St.: Closing March 13, Opening March 15

  • Meadowlark Blvd.: Closing March 14, Opening March 15

  • Red Powell Dr.: Closing March 14, Opening March 18

  • 63rd St. S.: Closing March 14, Opening March 15

  • 55th St.: Closing March 14, Opening March 15

  • Clifton: Closing March 15, Opening March 19

The closings could change as work progresses.
