Radical activists set fire to Rheinmetall CEO’s house over aid to Ukraine — report

Radical left-wing activists have set fire to the summer home of Rheinmetall’s CEO Armin Papperger in Lower Saxony, Germany, Bild reported on May 1.

The unnamed individuals also posted a message on the Indymedia platform, saying they planted an incendiary device in Papperger's home on the night of April 29. They accused Rheinmetall of accumulating old military equipment that "can now be sold to Ukraine along with ammunition for a huge profit."

"Rheinmetall plans, produces, and kills not only on the national scale," the message said.

German law enforcement is investigating the incident.

In March, Papperger annpunced that Rheinmetall plans to build at least four factories in Ukraine that would produce ammunition, military equipment, gunpowder, and air defense systems.

Rheinmetall is a major German defense conglomerate producing ammunition and military vehicles. In October 2023, the company formed a joint venture with the Ukrainian defense industry.
