Raceland bus driver fired for misconduct

Apr. 18—WORTHINGTON — A area school superintendent reported the firing of a bus driver for making "inappropriate comments" to students.

A Raceland-Worthington bus driver is without a job after reports surfaced from student-athletes, detailing "inappropriate" remarks made in their proximity Thursday. Larry Coldiron, Raceland-Worthington's superintendent, said concerns were expressed to local police.

"Safety of our students is first and foremost in any situation. We are going to do what is the best interests of our kids," he said.

Colidiron was notified April 17. He said it was urgent to get the information out to the public. In a Facebook post, Coldiron announced the parting of ways between the district and the driver.

"In the interests of transparency, we wanted to let our community know that we were contacted by student-athletes about inappropriate comments made by a transportation employee from our school district toward students," he said.

"Upon completion of our investigation, the individual is no longer employed by Raceland-Worthington Independent Schools. We have forwarded our concerns to the appropriate authorities," he added.
