Race Across The World star Brydie has spoken out to say the show was "tough" after being eliminated alongside her mum Sharon.

The kind-hearted mother and daughter had enjoyed three weeks filming the race but their journey came to an end in Cambodia as they came last again in the third leg.

The Race Across The World stars couldn't go through China so they were flown from Sokcho to the Vietnamese capital Hanoi to start the race where they left off. Contestants were warned the pair who came in last place would be eliminated from the race.

Speaking for the first time since the show aired, Brydie has praised her partnership with mum as they enjoyed their time travelling together. Alongside her message, Brydie also shared their final moments on the show where they said their goodbyes to the rest of the group.

In the caption, she wrote on Instagram: "I couldn’t have chosen anyone else to do race with, it was tough but we gave it a go! Thanks for always being my rock mum! You really are my idol."

Having come last in the second leg, Brydie and Sharon started the third leg in fifth place. They hoped to catch up by getting the longest train journey but they decided to pick up a last minute job before heading to the checkpoint.

This meant mother and daughter Sharon and Brydie narrowly missed out on the fourth place in the race while retired couple Stephen and Viv made it through to the next round. The mother and daughter were keen to stick to a shoestring budget and they were topping it up wherever possible with working.

Finding out they were the last to the checkpoint, they met with the other groups in the race and wished them luck ahead of the next leg. The mother and daughter shared their thoughts on leaving the show. Sharon said: "Unfortunately someone's got to go."

Brydie chipped in: "It's our time." In agreement, her mother said: "It was our time, yeah."

Talking to the rest of the group, Brydie had said she enjoyed the race because it meant she had quality time with her mum. This really tugged on the heartstrings of her mum. "We had an amazing three weeks together," Sharon agreed. "I'm going to cry."
