R.I.P. Penny Marshall, Laverne & Shirley star and renowned film director has died at 75
Penny Marshall, the former star of Laverne & Shirley who went on to become an acclaimed film director, has died at the age of 75.
According to TMZ, Marshall passed away at her Hollywood Hills home on Monday night. The cause of death is believed to have been the result of complications from diabetes.
Marshall earned three Golden Globe nominations for her role as Laverne DeFazio on Laverne & Shirley. After transitioning to a role behind the camera in the early 1980’s, she helmed such films as Jumpin’ Jack Flash, Big, Awakenings, A League of Their Own, Renaissance Man, and The Preacher’s Wife.
