WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Friends and neighbors of a Wilkes-Barre woman whose body was found in a wooded area in the city in March say the ‘not knowing’ what happened to her raises concerns and questions.

69-year-old Debra Fox was the longtime owner of a Carlisle Street home where the body of a woman was found buried in February.

Debra Fox once owned the home in which another woman was murdered and buried in the basement.

28/22 News I-Team spoke with her former neighbors who remain on edge.

“I don’t know. I think it’s horrible that they can’t find who did it. I don’t know,” said Walter.

Man accused of rape charged in second incident

Charlene Walter lives next to 142 Carlisle Street in Wilkes-Barre. Fox owned the home where -police say 38-year-old Nicole Cuevas was murdered.

Her body was found buried in the basement in February. Five people are charged in connection with her murder, but the investigation into Fox’s death has provided few answers.

In late March, the body of the 69-year-old Fox was found in a wooded area near the North Cross Valley Expressway. The Luzerne County Coroner says the cause and manner of death at this point in time is “undetermined” pending further investigation.

No one has been accused of wrongdoing in connection with Fox’s death.

“It’s just shocking. She’s gone and I miss her. She was a good girl. She was a good lady. She’s a good-hearted girl you know. It’s just hard,” continued Walter.

Gary Muchler lives across the street he has known Fox for some 30 years. He just wants answers.

“I kind of think that she was a witness and they just once the body was found stuff like that .. They got nervous and they did her in,” added Muchler.

Police will only say the investigation into Fox’s death is moving forward.
