Quest to name best coffee shops in Beaufort County down to finalists. Who will you pick?

At long last, we’ve made it to the finals in our quest to name the best coffee shops in three parts of Beaufort County: Hilton Head Island, the Bluffton area and the Beaufort/Port Royal area.

Lessons we’ve learned so far: Our readers like their coffee brewed by a locally owned business, and they also are willing to support newer shops in addition to more well-established businesses.

We started with 200 nominations submitted by readers of The Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette and followed that with nearly 2,000 votes cast in Round 1 and more than 5,300 votes cast in Round 2.

We’ve ended up with a slate of six local coffee shops, two from each of the three sections of the county. Now, it’s time to narrow the field to one winner from each area.

In a bonus round next week, the area winners will compete for the overall title of Best Coffee Shop in Beaufort County.

Here is a little more information about the finalists in case you want to arrange a taste test of your own before you vote.
