Quarry Lake Park search ends, body recovered on Sunday

RACINE, Wis. - The body of a person who jumped into the water at Quarry Lake Park and didn't resurface was recovered on Sunday, May 19.

According to the Racine County Sheriff's Office, on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at about 7:07 p.m., sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Quarry Lake Park in the Village of Mount Pleasant, for a person who went into the water and did not resurface.

Deputies arrived at the scene and were told that a 16-year-old male from Racine had jumped off a cliff near the dock and did not resurface.

The sheriff’s dive team, along with teams from the Racine Fire Department and the Southshore Fire Department, were called to the scene to locate him.

The search operations were suspended at about 9:56 p.m.

At about 7 a.m. on Sunday, May 19, the dive teams resumed their search and at about 10 a.m., divers located the male’s deceased body.

Investigators with the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Bureau are working on this case and notifying the person’s family.
