Purina Pet Parade draws large crowd of pets, humans

ST. LOUIS – More than a thousand pets marched the streets of Soulard on Sunday as part of the Purina Pet Parade.

It’s a continuation of Soulard’s Mardi Gras festivities this weekend.

The parade holds the Guinness World Record for hosting the largest collection of costumed animals, from dogs and cats to any other animal a household may have.

FOX 2’s Tim Ezell served as the emcee of the event.

The best-dressed pets were selected as members of the royal court and invited to a special coronation pageant at Soulard Market Park, which culminated in the crowning of the king and queen of Barkus.

All proceeds from Sunday’s parade will benefit the Open Door Animal Sanctuary.
