'Pure Michigan' campaign kicks off Great Lakes ads

'Pure Michigan' campaign kicks off ad campaign in local markets throughout Great Lakes region

LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- The state's "Pure Michigan" tourism campaign has kicked off its advertising campaign in local markets throughout the Great Lakes region.

The state says Monday the TV and radio ads feature 34 private-sector partners and will air in key regional markets and statewide through June. The advertising budget for the spring and summer campaign is $4.8 million, including $1.5 million committed by partner communities and attractions.

The Michigan Economic Development Corp. matches those contributions as part of the Travel Michigan Ad Partnership Program.

The Pure Michigan campaign has been running for years. In March, officials kicked off a $13 million national cable television ad effort.
