Puppy found with zip tie around his mouth gets a new life

Liz Heatherly found Norman, a 10-week-old puppy, on the side of the road while driving through Travelers Rest, S.C. She noticed he had a zip tie around his jaw and was covered in fleas and ticks. Heatherly and her family quickly pulled over to help him. “Once we walked back to the spot where we had seen him, he ran from us into a drainage ditch,” she told the Dodo. They were able to reach the scared pup and cut off the zip tie. Heatherly saw that Norman had open sores and severe scabbing. She took him to Cleveland Park Animal Hospital, where he was treated. As Norman healed, a hairless white line appeared around his mouth. The vet said it could be permanent, but Heatherly was hopeful the hair around the line would grow back. She rescued Norman and gave him a new home. He also met his new doggie brother, Jackson. “Jackson loves Norman and it makes my heart so full looking at them playing together,” she said. Norman is enjoying puppyhood to the fullest. Little hairs are even starting to sprout around his muzzle. “Norman is our little miracle,” Heatherly said, “and I wouldn't change him for the world.”
