In partnership with Mainline Health Systems, PCSSD is set to open a school-based health center in August.

A Tuesday release states that the clinic will provide comprehensive primary care and behavioral health services for students and district staff.

According to the release, the Mainline Health medical team at the clinic will offer immunizations, physicals, treatment of acute and chronic conditions, lab work and more

Janice Warren, the assistant superintendent of equity and pupil services for the district, highlighted the importance of the clinic.

“Having a health clinic in our district that is going to provide a variety of health services for our students and staff is probably the most outstanding thing we can provide outside of academics,” Warren said. “Healthy students and healthy staff come to work, and if they’re at work, we can all help students learn.”

Mainline Health Chief Project Officer Amanda Gilbert explained the aim of the clinic.

“Our hope is that the school-based health center will improve attendance rates, inspire healthy habits, and increase awareness about preventive care,” Gilbert said. “We are so excited to have a new partner in Pulaski County and be able to serve the students and staff of Pulaski County Special School District.”

District officials said the clinic will have a primary care nurse practitioner, a nurse, a patient support specialist and a behavioral health provider.
