Mexico, Jul. 12 (Notimex).- In reservations of travel packages for the summer holidays 2018, Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, was the destination with the highest growth when ascending to 140 percent, followed by Cancún, Quintana Roo; and Huatulco, Oaxaca, according to Despegar.com.
In a statement, the online travel agency also noted that other beach destinations that also grow in package bookings this summer are Mazatlan, Sinaloa; Acapulco Guerrero; and La Paz, Baja California Sur.
According to a study by the agency, the average expenditure that Mexican travelers make for a travel package to visit national beaches in summer is eight thousand 800 pesos per person and their average stay is three to four days.
In that sense, the manager of Despegar in Mexico, Francisco Ceballos, commented: "Although traditional beach destinations like Cancun are the busiest in summer, this year we see an interesting trend of Mexican tourists who will travel to beach destinations in the area of the Pacific, such as Puerto Vallarta, Huatulco and Mazatlan."
