(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Pueblo Police Department (PPD) said detectives from the Special Investigations Division found thousands of suspected fentanyl pills, guns, and cash after a brief foot chase of a suspect in the overnight hours of Friday, April 12.

According to PPD, on Friday at around 1 a.m. detectives saw 28-year-old Jaime Garcia in the 100 block of Duke Street near Lehigh Avenue and West Northern Avenue. When detectives tried to contact Garcia, PPD said he took off running. After a short foot chase and a brief struggle, Garcia was placed into handcuffs.

Detectives allegedly found a gun, cash, and a few pills in Garcia’s possession after taking him into custody. PPD said during the chase, Garcia allegedly dropped a cell phone and a plastic bag with 267 grams or about 2,670 pills of suspected fentanyl.

At the same time as the alleged foot chase of Garcia, detectives saw a second vehicle pull into the driveway where Garcia had exited his vehicle. The occupants of the second vehicle ran inside the home. PPD said the second vehicle had a firearm, cash, and what appeared to be methamphetamine inside. Both vehicles were towed from the home.

Garcia is facing charges of Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender, Unlawful Distribution of Schedule II, Special Offender, Driving an Unregistered Vehicle, and Resisting Arrest. Police are searching for the other individuals involved.
