Public Records: Fairfield County restaurant inspections

The following are restaurant inspections with critical violations, as conducted by the Fairfield County Health Department from Feb. 16 to 23.

Feb. 16

Baltimore Pint House, 108 N. Main St., Baltimore. The ice machine ice guard had residues present. Observed a spray bottle of Mrs. Meyer's sani mixture with no label on the beer tap table.

Panera Bread #4769, 1374 Ety Road #113, Lancaster. Observed the hand sink in the prep line area with gloves and utensils in the sink. The sink was also dirty.

The Chubby Hawaiian Grill, 1001 S. Main St., Baltimore. Observed shell eggs from an unlicensed local farm being used in the facility. Raw shell eggs are stored intermingled with produce and bread in a standing cooler in the large back storage room. Observed no date mark on macaroni and cheese and a homemade sauce in glass top prep cooler by microwave.

Los Amigos of Lancaster, LLC, 1348 Ety Road, Lancaster. Observed dessert in the glass cooler made with custard and many containers in the walk-in cooler that were not labeled or date-marked. There was no hot water at the facility. The person in charge (PIC) explained that the hot water tank pilot switch was malfunctioning and a repairman had been there and ordered a part. The facility is heating water on the stove for dishwashing.

Feb. 20

The Chubby Hawaiian Grill, 1001 S. Main St., Baltimore. Follow-up inspection. Observed raw shell eggs stored intermingled with produce and bread in a standing cooler in the large back storage room. Observed no date mark on macaroni an cheese and a homemade sauce in glass top prep cooler by microwave.

Los Amigos of Lancaster, LLC, 1348 Ety Road, Lancaster. Follow-up inspection. Observed dessert in the glass cooler made with custard and many containers in the walk-in cooler that were not labeled or date-marked.

Eagles F.O.E. 2120, 1936 E. Main St., Lancaster. PIC did not ensure employees were properly maintaining temperatures of time/temperature controlled for safety (TCS) foods during hot and cold storage. Observed chicken at 61.3 F, beef at 49.6 F/44.1 F.

Frisch's Restaurant Lancaster #88, 1707 River Valley Circle S., Lancaster. The upper line on the salad bar had cottage cheese, coleslaw and cut melon that were reading 47 F and 50 F. The PIC removed these foods for disposal and replaced them with fresh containers that were temped at 41 F. Observed numerous containers in the walk-in cooler that were not date-marked.

Scrambler Marie's, 1377 Ety Road, Lancaster. Observed open bags of ham and bacon in the walk-in cooler that were not date-marked. Observed no hot water in the men's or women's restrooms.

Feb. 21

Red Lobster #553, 1515 River Valley Circle N., Lancaster. Observed a build-up on the soda nozzle in the bar area and unclean pans and dishes in the clean dish storage area. Observed no air gap for the three-compartment sink.

Rooster's Lancaster, 1009 N. Memorial Drive, Lancaster. The cut vegetables on the prep line registered 50 F.

Max & Erma's Restaurant #1509, 2703 N. Memorial Drive, Lancaster. Foods at the Expo station were not kept at 41 F or lower. PIC thought this might be due to the heat lamps located above this station not operating properly. They are staying on high at all times making the entire area warmer than normal.

Feb. 22

China Buffet, 1273 N. Memorial Drive, Lancaster. Observed cut melon on the dessert bar at 49 F and some large containers in the walk-in cooler that were not date-marked.

Feb. 23

Marathon, 1020 W. Fair Ave., Lancaster. Observed dark slimy residue in the shoot of the ice machine.
