Here are the top three stories in Dallas today:

  1. The Dallas Budget Department is asking for the public's feedback regarding the upcoming city budget. The department is hosting a public hearing on Mar. 9 at Dallas City Hall. The registration deadline is today, Mar. 8, at 5:00 p.m. (The Dallas Morning News)

  2. Recruits with the Fort Worth Fire Department raised funds by climbing stairs for refugees arriving at the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport. Over 2,200 Afghan refugees have been brought to the Dallas area since August 2021. The refugees fled their homes after assisting the United States military during the Global War on Terror in Afghanistan. (Press Release Desk)

  3. An 18-wheeler truck hauling bananas crashed on Interstate 35 in Dallas. The truck was carrying roughly 40,000 pounds of bananas and lost control causing an overnight crash on the interstate. The truck driver is safe; an initial investigation has pointed to the wet road being the cause of the crash. (FOX 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth)
