This Prototype of the Next Honda Civic Type R Sounds Mean

From Road & Track

We like the new Honda Civic. It's lightyears better than the Civic it replaces, and it's actually legitimately fun to drive. The best news, however, is that not only will there be a new Civic Si, there will also be a new Civic Type R. And it's coming to the U.S.

Details on the upcoming Civic Type R are scarce, but if it's anything like the current Civic Type R, it's going to be extremely quick. After all, the current Civic Type R set a Nurburgring lap record that was only beaten by the limited-production Volkswagen GTI Clubsport S.

And while we don't know for sure that Honda intends to take that record back (or even that the Civic Type R will stay front-wheel drive), this video appears to show a Civic Type R prototype testing at the 'Ring. You can see it's gained a hood scoop and a pretty large wing, but that's about it.

It sure does look quick, though. Hopefully Honda doesn't make us wait too longer until the official reveal.
