Protesters Razz Energy Execs on Tax Breaks

HOUSTON—Protesters critical of tax breaks for oil and gas companies gathered outside a major energy conference here this morning to harangue participants, but no arrests were reported.

About 30 activists, including one dressed in a pig costume, gathered outside the conference hall and chanted for energy companies to “Pay Your Taxes!” according to the website FuelFix.com.

An e-mail about the protests from a local group called Good Jobs Great Houston described the annual conference hosted by IHS Cambridge Energy Research Associates as “a confab for the world’s wealthiest oil tycoons and energy companies, which often avoid paying their fair share of taxes, kill good jobs and pay CEOs huge salaries all at the same time.”
