SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Along with Biden’s arrival protesters were waiting for him throughout the Electric City.

President Biden arrived in Scranton just before 2:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, but the president’s visit didn’t come without controversy

Protesters gathered along the streets in Scranton, some groups that are pro-Palestine and pro-Trump were on the corner of Biden Street and Jefferson Avenue expecting the president to come into Scranton off the Express Way, however, Mr. Biden did not use that route and came into the city through a different avenue.

The protests continued outside the Cultural Center where President Biden was giving his remarks but along with the people outside against President Biden, there were also Biden supporters gathered outside as well overall, everyone wanted to be seen and heard by the president

“It’s always great to have President Biden in the area, he’s never forgotten the area since he left when he was about 10 years old, he keeps coming back and he keeps the support that he’s always had,” stated Joseph Shafer from Dorrance Township.

“Just because you don’t like Trump, look at his policies, please look at his policies, are you better today than you were when President Trump was in office?” added Tracy Rekus from Scranton.

Again, President Biden did not come into the city off the President Biden Expressway like protesters were expecting, he came into the city through a different avenue, which increased the protests to gather at the Scranton Cultural Center instead.
