Protest outside Tesla factory in Fremont, demonstrators hit with pepper balls
FREMONT, Calif. (KRON) — After protesters brought traffic to a halt on the Golden Gate Bridge and in the East Bay on Monday morning, demonstrators gathered outside the Tesla factory in Fremont on Monday evening. The protesters were hit with pepper balls as police tried to control the scene, KRON4 crews in Fremont confirmed.
The protesters showed support for Palestine, waving Palestinian flags. The Fremont protest is related to the ones that happened earlier in the day, protesters told KRON4.
There were about 50 protesters on hand, who marched from the Warm Springs BART station to Tesla’s plant, about a half-mile away. When they got to Tesla, they were met by the Fremont Police Department.
Police had put up barriers on Kato Road to control traffic, which protesters then took down. Police set off pepper balls after the barriers were removed.

The protesters said they wanted to target Tesla because it benefits from U.S. tax dollars, which also go to American allies like Istael.
California Highway Patrol was on standby to ensure protesters don’t shut off I-880. The protest ended just before 8 p.m.
KRON4 reached out to Tesla and the Fremont Police Department for comment and did not hear back as of Monday night.
