Prop money spotted at local businesses
NEW LONDON, Ohio (WJW) — Two Huron County businesses recently reported receiving fake cash, including a $20 bill and a $100 bill, according to New London Police Department.
Both were prop money to be used in filmmaking and are not legal currency, police officers wrote in a Thursday Facebook post.

One of the cases “has been resolved,” while the other is still under investigation, police said.
“Please be aware of this issue,” police wrote.

The charge of counterfeiting ranges from a fourth-degree felony to a first-degree felony under Ohio Revised Code.
Fourth-degree felonies are punishable by up to 18 months in prison and an up to $5,000 fine, according to Ohio Supreme Court sentencing guidelines.
