Multiple agencies came together to show their respect.

Weeks was the last to be identified among the four fallen officers who were gunned down Monday afternoon during a standoff in east Charlotte.

He was part of the team that was serving a warrant for the arrest of 39-year-old Terry Clark Hughes.

Prior to that, he was with the U.S. Marshals Service for 13 years.

“My husband is a 22-year veteran for (the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department) and anytime there is a procession for a law enforcement officer, I try to attend,” said Dianna Link.

She took time off work to support the Weeks family and his law enforcement family.

“I would like to say, ‘Thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you for putting your lives on the line for public safety, and it doesn’t go unnoticed, and it won’t be forgotten,’” Link said.

U.S. flags draped over the procession route leading to Mooresville.

Community members hurried to secure a place along the route to show their respect.

“He’s given the ultimate sacrifice,” said resident Rachael Martin. “And we want them to know that we appreciate the sacrifice he made to keep my family and my kids and our community safe.”

Martin brought her son here to teach him about the sacrifice Weeks made.

“It is extremely emotional to think of what someone’s done for our family and our community,” she said. “They’re out there doing their job to keep us safe. And I want to instill that in my own family and hope that they would learn from this as well.”

Weeks is survived by his wife and four children.
