The Tuesday garden party is the third society party that the Queen has hosted on the back lawns of Buckingham Palace this season. During each event, around 8,000 people who have made their mark in public life, enjoy cake and sandwiches with the Queen.

Garden parties are an important part of the London social season, which kicked off in earnest at the Chelsea Flower Show Monday, which Will and Kate also attended, taking in the amazing red carpet of poppies, as well as a new Chrysanthemum – called Rossano Charlotte – which was created for Kate's charity East Anglia's Children's Hospices.
