Prince William to be an usher at Duke of Westminster’s wedding, without Harry

The Prince of Wales will be an usher at the wedding of his close friend Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, when he gets married next month.

The Prince will be part of the groom’s party when Mr Grosvenor, 33, one of Britain’s richest men and a godfather to Prince George, marries Olivia Henson, 31, at Chester Cathedral on June 7.

The Princess of Wales is not expected to be in attendance at the society wedding of the year as she continues her cancer treatment, according to The Sunday Times.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will also not be among the 400 guests, although Mr Grosvenor is the godfather of Prince Harry’s five-year-old son Prince Archie.

The couple, who met in 2021, have opted for a  “strictly no-gifts policy” for their guests as Mr Grosvenor has a fortune of more than £10 billion.

Property portfolio includes 300 acres of Mayfair

His property portfolio, which he inherited from his father, the late Duke who died of a heart attack in 2016 aged 64, includes 140,000 acres in Oxfordshire, Cheshire, Lancashire and Scotland – along with 300 acres of Mayfair and Belgravia.

The service will be held at Chester Cathedral and will be followed by a reception at nearby Eaton Hall, the Grosvenors’ 11,000-acre family estate, where the couple will live. There will be a second smaller-scale reception for family and friends at Eaton Hall.

The King is not expected to be at the wedding, although he is Mr Grosvenor’s godfather, as he continues to undergo cancer treatment.

The monarch is also due to be in France the day before the wedding, when he will be commemorating the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy, accompanied by the Queen and Prince William.

Sustainability will be a theme at the Grosvenor wedding, with food, flowers and products being sourced locally. Following the celebrations the flowers will be given to local charities and organisations.
