Prince William Opens Up About Life at Home With the New Baby
Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton welcomed their third child, a baby boy, on Monday, and on Wednesday, William opened up about how the first two nights at home have been with their new son.
“Sleeping’s going reasonably well so far, so he’s behaving himself, which is good,” the new dad told reporters while attending an Anzac Day Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey. He also said that everyone is “in good form, luckily” and that his new son is doing “very well.”
He also joked about baby names, telling Sir Jerry Mateparae, New Zealand High Commissioner to the UK, that Jerry is “a strong name.”
Middleton gave birth to their third child on Monday morning at 11:01am. The royal baby weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces, and made his public debut just hours later, when Prince William and Duchess Kate appeared outside of the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital, holding their newest family member in a white knit blanket and matching hat. Both big brother Prince George, 4, and big sister Princess Charlotte, 2, made their way to the hospital to meet their new sibling before the family departed for home later the same day.
The world now waits on a name for the new little royal, which the couple has not yet announced. The latest bookmaking odds in the UK are predicting a traditional name for the new prince, with Arthur, Albert, and Philip being the top predictions for the boy’s name, and Frederick and James rounding out the list. Typically, the palace announces the little one’s name within a couple of days after the birth — Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s names were both announced two days later — so it shouldn’t be long now.
