Prince William and Prince Harry may be as close as two brothers can be, but that didn't stop media reports of the former not approving of his younger brother's official statement about his relationship with actress Meghan Markle. As it turns out, William did indeed support Harry's move--and in order to end speculation about the situation the big bro released official remarks of his own.

In a statement to the U.K.'s The Telegraph, Kensington Palace said, "The Duke of Cambridge absolutely understands the situation concerning privacy and supports the need for Prince Harry to support those closest to him."

According to the newspaper, the brothers had a deep discussion about whether the choice was right to request that the media and certain social media accounts cease their harassment of Markle, as the remarks would simultaneously affirm that the prince and Suits stars were a couple. The remarks were quite unusual for the royals, who rarely make any kind of proclamation of the sort--especially about the romantic goings-on of one of the family members.

Ultimately, Prince Harry believed that the abuse had reached an unacceptable level and that action had to be taken. Prince William issued one such profession of his own before he began dating Kate Middleton, completely shooting down rumors of a possible relationship with friend Jecca Craig.

Both Prince William and Harry share the same media advisers, thus it was ultimately a joint decision to go forward with the statement.
