Prince William’s new haircut demonstrates confidence, a hair expert has claimed.

Earlier today, Prince William revealed a much shorter hairstyle while visiting patients at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital.

While many might think nothing of a man having his hair cut slightly shorter than usual, for an individual who spends so much time in the public eye, it’s making a huge statement.

It’s long been noted that Prince William’s hair has been slightly receding over time.

With that in mind, celebrity hair stylist Joe Mills of joeandco.net believes that the future king’s decision to show off his new look at such a public occasion demonstrates great self-assurance.

“For a long time comments have been made, especially online and in the press, about the fact that his hair is thinning and he’s losing his hair,” Mills told The Independent.

“I think him just literally going I’m going to crop my hair off is a really strong statement, a very confident statement.

“If you are photographed and in the public eye to that degree it’s very, very hard to look great all the time.

“I think it suits him, I think he looks great with it.”

For many men facing hair loss, the prospect of shaving off their remaining hair isn’t something they’d like to consider.

There have been huge advancements for hair loss treatments in the last few years, as Mills explained.

“I think the shift in the last few years has been quite dramatic,” he said.

“If you go back 10 or 15 years, hair transplants were brutal, there was a lot of scarring and they didn’t necessarily look great.

“The advances even in the last three years have been outstanding.”

In Mills’ point of view, as a man with a full head of hair, he would only shave off his hair as a last resort.

However, there are many things that he considers when men with thinning hair ask for his advice.

“It’s case by case,” he says. “If a guy came in and said what should I do, I’d judge it on their lifestyle, what do they do, do they train every day.

“The key to it is, how do you feel about it. Because you’re the one that has to wear it.”

Mills has spotted a number of men out and about with wispy hair who he thinks would benefit from a shorter cut.

Perhaps Prince William’s chic new look will inspire others to take the plunge.
