Prince’s Paisley Park Officially Rezoned as Museum After Unanimous Vote
Ever since Prince's shocking death in April, fans petitioned to transform his famous Paisley Park estate into a museum. These wishes soon came to fruition, and earlier this month the public finally got to see a sneak peek of the new museum as Al Roker and The TODAY Show shared a preview of what to expect.
The tours were initially expected to be open to the public on October 6, but members of the Chanhassen City Council said they needed more time to decide. Although there seems to be an overwhelming agreement that the famous estate should become a special place for Prince fans to share together and visit, the real concern the city council had was with the amount of tourists and traffic these tours would bring to the city.
According to KARE 11 in Minneapolis, the council put these thoughts into consideration and still came to a unanimous vote that would officially declare Paisley Park as a museum. Thanks to last night's vote, the museum will officially open to the public with tours beginning on October 28.
Tickets through December are currently available. Tickets for early 2017 are expected to be released next month. As of right now, Early-bird General Admission passes are set at $38.50. Prices will raise to $50.00 once the early special tickets sell out. The museum also offers $100 VIP Experience tickets—this package includes a tour that runs 30 minutes longer than the regular one and will allow guests to see inside additional rooms and studios within the building. With an additional $10 purchase of a Paisley Park flash drive, VIP guests can also take advantage of some photo opportunities in the museum.
