Prince George’s County Police Department officer charged with assault in Charles County

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) officer was suspended without pay on Tuesday after he hit a Charles County Sheriff’s deputy and was arrested.

PGPD said the deputy was responding to a domestic dispute at Officer Charles Williams Jr.’s home in Charles County around 1 a.m.

Williams hit the deputy during this call. Police said the deputy was not injured.

Williams was arrested and charged with second-degree assault.

PGPD said that Williams, who is assigned to the Bureau of Patrol, had joined the department in 2015.
