BALTIMORE (AP) — Britain's Prince Edward visited Baltimore along with Miss America 2011 Teresa Scanlan to announce the expansion of a youth program.
The youngest son of Queen Elizabeth II announced Tuesday the program named for his father, Prince Phillip, will be offered in Baltimore and for the first time will focus on at-risk youth.
Tthe Duke of Edinburgh's Award-Young Americans' Challenge has already been active in other parts of the United States.
The self-development program is designed to build confidence, motivation and self-worth in youths and young adults between the ages of 14 and 25. Students participate in community service and activities focused on physical recreation and skills development.
