Primary Election Day 2024
Mar. 4—Voters will have one final opportunity to cast their ballot Tuesday, March 5, during Election Day for the 2024 Primary Democrat and Republican Election.
Elections Manager Julie Cooper said that Walker County registered voters may cast their vote at any of the countywide polling locations between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Election Day
At the close of Friday, March 1 early voting, there were a total of 4,912 votes cast of the 36,547 registered voters in the county, or 8.7%.
Walker County voters began Early Voting on Tuesday, Feb. 20. The Elections Office wrapped up early voting on Friday, at the Walker County Storm Shelter, located at 455 State Highway 75 North.
"We will be voting on the State Representative for District 12, Walker County Sheriff and County Commissioner for Precinct #3 and also we have 13 Propositions," McKenzie said.
On the ballot for the District 12 Republican ticket include Trey Wharton, Ben Bius and John Harvey Slocum. There are two candidates on the ballot for Sheriff — Clint McRae and Paul Bruce. For the Precinct 3 Commissioner seat, the incumbent Bill Daugette will be up against Lee Killingsworth.
Running unopposed on the Primary ticket are County Tax Assessor-Collector Diana McRae, Precinct 1 Commissioner Danny Kuykendall, Precinct 1 Constable John Hooks, Precinct 2 Constable Shane Loosier, Precinct 3 Constable Steve Hill, Precinct 4 Constable Gene Bartee, and 12th Judicial District Judge David Wayne Moorman.
Running unopposed on the Democrat ticket are Dee Howard Mullins for District 12 Representative and Rosa Goffney for Sheriff.
