Although Apple hasn’t yet released its cheaper iPhone targeted toward emerging markets, the company is already making a more concerted push into countries such as India by promoting its iPhones with more aggressive price schemes. India’s The Economic Times reports that “equal monthly installments and cash back schemes have worked wonders for Apple in India as iPhone’s monthly sales have risen by 300% to 400% over the last few months,” which bodes well for the company’s efforts to make its devices more affordable for consumers in emerging markets. The Economic Times cites a recent report from Credit Suisse showing that monthly iPhone sales have spiked to almost 400,000 per month, thus helping the company capture a “3% share of handset sales for a single top-end product in a market that has long been dominated by low-end feature phones.”
