Pricing for the hot new Nintendo Switch console may have just leaked

Nintendo will soon answer all of our most pressing questions regarding the upcoming Switch console, but a new leak already seems to solve one of the biggest mysteries surrounding the upcoming new video game console: The price.

According to Dutch blog TechTastic, the Switch might cost just €249.99 in the Netherlands. The site also noted that UK retailer Game Seek lists a preorder price of £198.50 for the console, or around €231.45.

That information seemed to have been corroborated by sources who talked to Nikkei, according to a translation of a new report from the Japanese financial news site. TechTastic said that the console will be slightly more expensive in Europe than Nikkei‘s listed price of 25,000 yen for Japan, or about €202.73. Nikkei updated its post to reflect the fact that the 25,000 yen figure is only an estimate for consumers, rather than a prediction or figure taken from a source with knowledge of the final price.

Earlier rumors noted a similar pricing structure for Europe, with the Switch expected to cost £199.99 in the UK. That’s the cheapest price for the console, but the price might go up to £249.99 for a version that has more storage and a bundled game. The Switch Pro Controller will sell separately at £39.99 according to the same November reports.

The console might be released on March 17 in Europe, according to an earlier post by TechTastic.

That said, we’ll remind you that nothing is official about the console’s final price and launch date, but Nintendo should reveal all these details later this week. The company has a Switch press conference scheduled to take place on January 13th, at which point we’ll be able to tell you more about its upcoming new console.
