Prichard man arrested in connection with I-65 service road shooting: Mobile Police

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Mobile Police announced Friday an arrest had been made in connection with an I-65 service road shooting that occurred on May 2.

The suspect is accused of shooting out of a white sedan, grazing a person, and striking their vehicle with gunfire. The victim’s injuries reportedly were not serious.

Officers attempted to make a traffic stop on Friday near Broad Street and Texas Street on the vehicle they believe was involved in the shooting, but the driver did not stop.

According to police, the vehicle struck a concrete object and eventually came to a stop in the 300 block of Dunbar Street.

27-year-old Jamarcus Davis Johnson of Prichard was arrested and taken to Mobile Metro Jail, according to an MPD news release.

Johnson is accused of third-degree assault and discharging a gun into an occupied vehicle. He also had a warrant for his arrest on a charge of harassment or harassing communications, according to the Mobile Metro Jail Log.

He will appear in court on Monday for a bond hearing.
