Priceville Police: Man arrested after sex abuse indictment

PRICEVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Priceville Police Department (PPD) says a man has been arrested after a 2023 indictment on sex abuse and attempted rape charges.

PPD said 36-year-old Rhotee Thompson of Muscle Shoals was arrested and extradited from Colbert County to Morgan County on Sunday for warrants for first-degree attempted rape, first-degree sex abuse and enticing a child for immoral purposes.

The department said those warrants stem from an investigation that began in 2021. Authorities said Assistant Chief Jason Wilbanks began investigating a case involving the enticement of a child who was less than 12 years old at the time.

PPD said during the investigation, Thompson was developed as a suspect.

According to court documents, Thompson was indicted on the charges in Sept. of 2023. Priceville police said warrants for his arrest were issued after those indictments.

Jail records show that Thompson is being held in the Morgan County jail on a $100,000 bond.
