‘Prevent the swerve’: How slowing down can prevent serious injury

MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Following recent collisions on highways, Merced CHP is reminding drivers of the importance of abiding by posted speed limits when traveling along curved roads.

The first incident occurred on Monday which resulted in a jeep colliding into trees along a Merced County highway. Officers say the incident resulted from the dangers of speeding around curves.

The second collision happened on Tuesday, leaving two cars rolled over on their sides. CHP says this rollover collision was yet again due to speeding through highway curves.

Merced CHP said to “prevent the swerve, safely negotiate the curve.”

Officers remind the public that speed limits are vital safety measures to protect drivers on the road. They advise driving slow and steady is the best way to navigate curved roads as speeding through them can cause serious accidents.
