‘Pretty Little Liars’ Tammin Sursok & Sean McEwen Team With Astronauts Wanted For Scripted Comedy Series

EXCLUSIVE: Australian actress Tammin Sursok and writer/director Sean McEwen (And Punching the Clown) have partnered with Astronauts Wanted, the youth-focused content development and production studio, to develop and produce a new scripted comedy series Aussie Girl.

Loosely based on Sursok’s life circumstance, the story takes place at the exact moment when her career in Australia takes a wickedly-delicious-but-horrific turn for the worse and she is forced to get the hell outta Dodge and try to make it in the selfie-obsessed world of Los Angeles.

The series is written and directed by McEwen and Sursok and exec produced by Cassidy Lunnen. Nick Shore and Kim Rosen will oversee the project for Astronauts Wanted. Sursok, perhaps best known for her recurring role as Jenna Marshall on Freeform’s Pretty Little Liars, is repped by Michael Szewczyk at Grandview and Emma Lewis at Paradigm. McEwen is repped by Brett Etre at Primary Wave.

The studio has announced that it has optioned the rights to Danielle Mages Amato’s YA novel The Hidden Memory Of Objects, which will be released by Balzer+Bray/HarperCollins in March 2017. The book is about Megan, a young artist who uses her ability to see memories attached to objects to find out more about her brother’s death.
