WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – Nikki Haley is dropping out of the race for president following a bruising Super Tuesday defeat.

Donald Trump won all but one state, Vermont.

Tuesday night’s results boil the race down to just two frontrunners and tees up a 2020 rematch between former president Donald Trump and President Joe Biden in November.

“In all likelihood Donald Trump will be the Republican nominee when our party convention meets in July,” Haley said.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump bragged about his Super Tuesday victories, but Democrats say Tuesday’s results should be a warning sign for Republicans.

“Joe Biden did much better in the primary as a percentage against his opponents than Donald Trump did against his opponent,” said Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.).

Haley stopped short of endorsing the former president Wednesday.  She says Trump must now convince moderate Republicans to vote for him in November.

An Associated Press survey shows as many as 76% of Haley supporters in early primary states like New Hampshire and South Carolina say they would not vote for Trump in November, but on Capitol Hill, Republicans are uniting behind Trump.

“It will be a rematch, and we like that rematch,” said House Speaker Mike Johson (R-La.).

Even the holdouts, most notably Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) who’s had a rocky relationship with Trump endorsed him.

“I said I would support the nominee for president, even if it were the former president,” McConnell said.

President Biden is hoping to woo some Haley supporters.  In a statement Wednesday, he praised the former governor’s campaign and said there is a place for her supporters in his campaign.
