President Biden wrapping up Scranton visit

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— The spotlight has been on Scranton as President Biden made his way to the Electric City.

It’s believed that President Biden is spending the night at the Radisson Hotel in Scranton. This extra security has been seen across the area since Air Force One touched ground at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport Tuesday around 1:15 p.m.

It was a busy day of stops for the President Tuesday. First, he made his way to the Scranton Cultural Center to speak on his new tax plan, one he says will benefit middle-class and working families.

President Biden then visited his childhood home on North Washington Avenue, followed by final remarks at the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local Union 445 to keep voters on board come elections.

“With your help, I’ve been able to get a lot done that no one thought to get done. We’ve been able to get a lot done. There’s so much more we have to do, but we can do it, but we have to win, and it comes down to old-fashioned politics,” President Biden said during his remarks.

A mix of people were in downtown Scranton, both supporters and protesters, for the president’s motorcade arrival in the Electric City.

The President is expected to depart from the Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport Wednesday morning. He is then planning to continue his campaigning in Pittsburgh.
